The Lay Ministries Training Programme of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), held from 1st to 14th March 2026, has been graciously brought to a successful conclusion at the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Abetifi-Kwahu. A total of sixty-one (61) trainees – comprising fifty (50) males and eleven (11) females – participated in this formation session.

The programme encompassed the following courses of study: the Advance Certificate in Christian Ministry (ACCM), the Basic Certificate in Christian Ministry (BCCM-Catechist Option – Advanced), and the Basic Certificate in Christian Ministry (BCCM – Catechist Option: Foundation).

The Lay Ministries Training Programme of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana offers a comprehensive curriculum, including courses in Old Testament Studies, New Testament Studies, Church History, Evangelism, Church Growth, African Traditional Religion, Christian Spirituality, Understanding Prayer and Faith, Church-Based Counselling Ministries, Bible Study Methods and the Use of Bible Study Tools, Christian Leadership, Homiletics, Contemporary Liturgy, among others.

This training is purposefully designed to equip the participants with essential competencies in Christian leadership, sound biblical interpretation, Christian doctrine, evangelism, and conflict management, all to the glory of God and for the edification of His Church.

The Lay Ministries Training Programme of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana remains open to all faithful members of the Church who, in response to the divine calling of God upon their lives, earnestly desire to attain higher levels of competencies in biblical truth and Christian leadership, that they may serve the Church with diligence and faithfulness.

The General Assembly Council (GAC) has approved the renaming of the church’s Special Ministerial Training (SMT) programme at the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Abetifi-Kwahu, to Licentiate in Ministry.

On 19th March 2026, the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC) witnessed a simple yet deeply meaningful gesture from the graduating class of Catechists. In a moment marked by appreciation and reflection, the group presented three customized clocks to the Centre as a token of their gratitude.

The presentation was not merely about the gift itself, but the symbolism it carried. The clocks, representing time, discipline, and continuity, serve as a reminder of the formative journey the Catechists have undergone during their training. They also signify their readiness to move forward into ministry, carrying with them the values instilled at RTC.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Cat. Hannah Agyakwaa Agyekum, a member of the year group leadership, expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Faculty for their unwavering commitment to effective training. She acknowledged the dedication, patience, and guidance that have shaped them into competent and confident servants, prepared to go forth as agents of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

The group further extended their gratitude to the entire RTC community for the excellence, love, and care shown to them throughout their period of study. According to them, their experience at the Centre has not only equipped them academically and spiritually, but has also nurtured them into a family bound by shared purpose and faith.

The donation of the clocks will serve as an enduring legacy of the graduating class, reminding future generations of students of the importance of time stewardship and the lasting impact of quality training.

Receiving the vehicle on behalf of RTC, Abetifi, were the Board Chair, Nana Obenewaah Attah Ofori, and the Director, Rev. Gideon Buernor Puplampu. The Education Directorate, led by its Director, Mr. Daniel Yeboah Hienno, also received its vehicle with gratitude.

The Dangme Tongu Presbytery has elected the Director of the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Rev. Gideon Buenor Puplampu, as its next Presbytery Chairperson, following an orderly electoral process on Saturday, 9th May 2026.

The entire RTC community congratulates Rev. Puplampu on this well-deserved honour and prays for wisdom and grace as he takes on this new role of leadership in the service of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

The Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC) warmly received the immediate past Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Very Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, as the Most Senior in Residence of the institution from 16th to 19th June, 2026. This significant visit forms part of the RTC’s official academic schedule for every session.

The student body, filled with deep love and admiration for the seasoned minister of the gospel, gathered at the main entrance of the RTC singing Presbyterian hymns to welcome the 18th Moderator of the Church.

At an assembly, the Director of the Centre, Rev. Gideon Buernor Puplampu, in the presence of faculty members and trainees, formally welcomed Very Rev. Prof. Mante to the institution and assured him of a comfortable and satisfying four-day stay within the RTC community.

Rev. Puplampu further expressed his profound gratefulness to the Senior Minister for his prompt response to the invitation and his enduring readiness to contribute significantly to the formation of the ministerial trainees.

Offering a welcome on behalf of the trainees, the leader, Mr. Asiamah Amponsah, outlined the detailed programme scheduled for the four-day stay of the Most Senior in Residence.

Highlighting the institution’s commitment to the guest’s well-being, he introduced a dedicated trainee medical team to the former Moderator. The medical team, which comprises a medical doctor, three nurses, a nutritionist, and a dental practitioner, was charged with taking comprehensive care of the Very Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante’s health throughout the period of his stay.

In his address to the assembly, Very Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante expressed a heartfelt appreciation to the Director, faculty members, and trainees for the remarkable and memorable reception accorded to him.

Very Rev. Prof. J. O. Y. Mante served distinguishably as the 18th Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, former President of the Trinity Theological Seminary, Legon, and former Chairman for the Christian Council of Ghana. He remains deeply knowledgeable and highly respected in the fields of religious studies, systematic theology, and Christian doctrine.

The Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC) has organised a capacity-building programme aimed at equipping ministerial trainees with the knowledge and skills needed to identify and effectively utilise their God-given gifts for excellence in ministry.

Delivering the keynote address, Rev. Dr. Daniel Osei Bediako-Akoto, former Chairperson of the Sekyere Presbytery, presented an authoritative lecture on the theme, “Identification and Use of Gifts.”

In his insightful and thought-provoking presentation, Rev. Dr. Bediako-Akoto emphasised the importance of understanding, developing, and applying one’s gifts in ways that promote cooperation, effective service, and growth within the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and society at large.

Addressing the ministerial trainees during the first Conferences, Workshops and Seminars (CWS) for Major Sessions One and Four, the astute Minister encouraged them to remain authentic and avoid the temptation of imitating others. He urged them to discover their unique calling and allow God to direct their lives and ministries.

“Be yourself, live your kind, and fulfil the mission God has assigned to you.”

He further stressed the significance of individual identity: “God is serious about individual identity. Let your gifts define you, and be yourself.”

The participants actively interacted with the speaker during the question-and-answer segment, seeking clarification on various issues to better prepare themselves for the diverse responsibilities of ministry.

The programme attracted over 160 participants, including first- and final-year trainees, faculty members, and members of the RTC community. The impressive turnout, coupled with the enthusiastic participation of attendees, contributed to a highly successful event that fostered meaningful learning and personal development.

The CWS programme forms part of RTC’s commitment to nurturing competent, self-aware, and spiritually grounded ministers who are equipped to serve effectively in the Church and beyond.
